Should Marijuana Be Legalized For Personal Use

If marijuana has been proven to help sick people feel better and is being legalized in many states to help these people, should it be legalized for personal use if you are not sick. Do you think the taxation of of marijuana would help our deficit if it were legalized and taxed??

baboosmom   Mdude, you really said it perfectly. To help our own country and help minimize people crossing our borders would be ideal. Regulated growing could help our local farmers if they were able to work with

shmezzie   Marijuana should definitely be legalized. The obvious financial benefits should be reason enough. Plus alcohol and tobacco are legal and kill more people per year than marijuana has ever killed. Tobacco

Mdude   Yes..legalize it. The drug war cost many many millions to fight a losing battle. Regulation with a tax will not only help the defit but it will reduce the black market signifantly. If a regulated grower

Once legalized, MJ will be no more of a gateway drug than alcohol or coffee. That and it'll put all the Mexican cartels out

dadvocate   You are asking two different questions and i can only vote on one. For the first question, i definitely believe it should be legalized. Its not a gateway drug like most people say. It is certainly something

charlee   It seems clear that most who favor legalization are users of the substance. Those who are opposed tend not to use it. So, when there are more politicians that smoke the stuff then it will become legal.

Doctor Linkenstein   I do not feel that cannabis should be legalized, at least not under the current school of thought. Most proponents of legalization advocate taxation and regulation of it in conjunction with legalization.

jpr318   I think you are missing the point of legalizing this from a monetary perspective. While its a gateway drug or not, my personal opinion is that this is no different and no more abused then alcohol.

pundit   If we legalize pot, the next debate will be about cocaine. Any mind or mood altering substance should be illegal, otherwise what kind of message are we sending to the kids.
