Motherhood and Career: Almost Impossible

 
I have come to realize that it is next to impossible to be a great mother and a great career woman. Something will always suffer - whether it be leaving work to attend your child's soccer game just as the boss walks in, or forgetting about the poster contest at school because you had too little time to review the memos in your child's schoolbag. This leaves most moms feeling about 50% in the 2 most important areas of our lives. Bottom line is this, if you choose to have children and choose(see more)

  october   Emma Thompson just said that women should take a year off in order to be with their kids. What a great idea. Perhaps she will be willing to support the moms financially so that they can all do so.

barefoot5678   I agree with the original poster. In addition, I have friends that are working mothers and they are constantly miserable and overworked with no time to themselves. I'd hate that lifeestyle. Moreover,

  charlee   I totally agree. Raising children is the most challenging of all endeavors. If I were to place a monetary value on it (which you can't because it really is priceless), it would be in the neighborhood

  Loran   The "great" factor comes to play when you can give each your undivded attention. It becomes a balancing act, once you can master that, everything fallls into place. I wouldn't say it is easy,

  pundit   Perhaps great is a standard that is unfairly measured by perfection. Being great can mean making a difference and doing something or both things to a high standard, even if you know that more is possible.
