When People Die, They Are Remembered Selectively

 
The long time owner of the Oakland Raiders Al Davis Died today. He will be spoken about as a coach, commissioner, and owner that inspired loyalty and improved the game. What we won't hear as much of is the way he treated people, which wasn't good. When famous people die we tend to block out the bad and I'm not sure thats a good thing.

  charlee   I tend to agree, but it is not just true for the rich and famous. It also applies to us common, everyday folks. The funerals I've attended where the guy was actually in many ways a real SOB, eulogize

  itodobien   I think it's just people behaving humanely. The people in the spotlight have their every flaw and poor pointed out and amplified by the media machine. They hear all the criticism while they're alive,
