Americans Have Lost Their Work Ethic

This debate was fueled by the above editorial from The New York Times. Americans today would rather collect unemployment insurance than do work that immigrants (both legal and illegal) are willing to do, i.e. farm labor or janitorial services. There are many reasons for this - some justifiable, and some arguable. What do you think?

  charlee   To a large degree, it is true. There are many hardworking Americans. However, we have become soft and spoiled. The notion that just because one is simply alive in our culture, he or she is entitled

  dadvocate   This is absolutely true in my opinion. Americans have become so fearful of losing their jobs, that they work tentatively. Work ethic has been replaced by panic so that it may appear people are working
